The Kwikset SmartCode touchpad smart lock with Home Connect technology enables wireless communication between the lock and other devices in the home. Through a web-enabled device, users can remotely check the door lock status, lock or unlock the door, and receive notifications. The SmartCode is a one-touch locking motorized deadbolt that provides the convenience of keyless entry with a personalized code and a backlit keypad for increased visibility.

This SmartCode deadbolt is easy to install, program, and use, and it operates on 4 AA batteries. It also features SmartKey Security as a backup keyway. Kwikset's smart locks and electronic deadbolts offer keyless entry and access for daily life, similar to the Kwikset Kevo door lock. Kwikset locks come with patented security features, including Kwikset SmartKey security and SecureScreen.

Kwikset's front door locks are available in multiple finishes, including satin nickel, venetian bronze, and polished chrome, making them a smart choice for a keypad lock or a touchscreen lock. From August to December, Kwikset deadbolts are the locks for year-round keyless entry. Kwikset's smart home integration, known as Kwikset Home Connect, allows their Z-Wave locks to work with Amazon Alexa, SmartThings, and Wink smart home hubs for home automation.

If the lock jams and the turnpiece does not rotate smoothly, the door handing process may not have been executed during installation, or the hole in the door may be misaligned. Disassembling the lock and reinstalling it without the adapter ring on the exterior side of the door can help resolve this issue.

If the lock button does not lock the door, it may be because no user codes are programmed, the door handing process was not executed, or the battery is too low. Programming at least one user code and performing the door handing process, as well as replacing the batteries, can help address these problems.

Kwikset's smart locks offer full 128-bit encryption security and work with Alexa for voice control (smart home hub required, Alexa device and hub sold separately). They do not work with ZigBee or Amazon Key and are incompatible with Affinity. The latch has an adjustable backset of 2-3/8 to 2-3/4 inches to fit all standard door preparations.

In addition to remote locking and unlocking, the SmartCode lock features optional automatic door locking after 30 seconds for peace of mind, one-touch locking, and SecureScreen patented technology. Users can program up to 30 custom access codes for family, friends, or dog walkers, and lock the door with the touch of a button.
